About GeenStay SA

The GreenStaySA Vision

GreenStaySA is an information resource that supports the move towards improved environmental performance for the accommodation sector. It provides guidance and support to facilities who wish to improve their environmental footprint and operate in an environmentally responsible manner.

GreenStaySA evolved from increasing pressure on the tourism industry and other industry sectors to reduce our environmental footprint. It is now time for the tourism industry to adopt environmental practices that can be monitored, measured and improved upon year after year.

Using GreenStaySA Tools and Resources

Adopting a sustainable approach to running your accommodation establishment is more than just good business ethics; it highlights your commitment to improving the environment, increases marketing opportunities and can save money too.

All accommodation establishments, however small, can use the GreenStaySA tools and resources in order to improve their environmental footprint.  The tools and resources include :

+ Self-assessment tool to assessment your current environmental performance

+ A technical manual to assist you in the implementation of environmental interventions

Soccer World Cup 2010

Reducing the carbon footprint of the 2010 Soccer World Cup is a key component for hosting the event. The accommodation sector is second only to transport in terms of its environmental impact. Green Goal is FIFA’s environmental initiative for 2010 and GreenStaySA is proud to be one of its flagship projects.
